Troupe Registration Includes:

  • 8 weeks of practices, learning choreography to music, 1 hour per week
  • Dress rehearsal- Saturday April 7th 2018, time (morning) TBA
  • Performance night- Saturday April 7th 2018 between 7-10 PM
  • Free admission for performer
  • The theme of the show is "80's and 90's Throwback"
  • *IMPORTANT* For 24 hours after sign up launch, students will be limited to 1 troupe registration to allow for an equal opportunity for all students to join a dance troupe. After the 24 hour period is over, any student can sign up for as many dance troupes as they want to. 
  • ACTIVE STUDENTS are defined as those students enrolled at Studio Chic with current and active class packs, monthly memberships, workshop series members, and auto pays memberships only. The following pricing options DO NOT count as active students: Perkville classes, single class, Groupon, and intro/new student offers.

1. Studio Chic App (download from the app store)

- Tap on Enrolments and look for the troupe you are interested in registering for
- Tap on troupe and tap "Book Workshop"
- Continue following prompts to buy service and enter payment information
- Please read prerequisites for each troupe prior to enrolling.

2. Studio Chic Website: 
- Visit the Troupe Information Page
- Find the troupe you're interested in registering for
- Click the "SIGN UP HERE" button beside the troupe name
- Find the troupe on the schedule page and click "SIGN UP"
- Follow the instructions to book and pay

Things to consider: 
- Read over each dance troupes information very carefully and check your pre-requisites to see which troupe you're interested in.
- Pay attention to the prerequisites, they are there as a highly suggested moves that you should be comfortable performing, not just learning. You should be able to execute these moves without instruction, spotting or guiding.
- Make sure you are available to all attend troupe practices. You are responsible to your troupe and they count on you to be there. If you are unable to attend any practice dates/times we you must notify the instructor prior to registering.
- If you have any questions about choreography, or prerequisites we suggest you talk to the troupe instructor prior to registering
- First day of practice all troupe members will be required to sign a photo and video release. 
- All troupes are first come first served. There are no discounts for multiple troupes. Online troupe registration is for active students only. An active student is defined as a person with a valid class pack, monthly membership or auto-pay membership. A non-active student is a past student of the studio without a package or membership (single classes/guest passes do not count for active members).

Song: Backstreet Boys – "Everybody" (Backstreets Back)
Pre-requisite Moves: Open to ALL levels.  Choreo will include 101 spins & transitions, floor work, and possibly heels (will let the group decide).  Depending on the capability of those who join, there will be an opportunity to showcase more advanced moves if you wish!  
Costume Style: 90s
Number of Spots: 10
Rehearsal Time: Saturdays from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
First Rehearsal Date: January 20th (no practice on February 24 & March 24)

Kelly's Troupe
Song: "Girls just wanna have fun" and "True Colours" by Cyndi Lauper
Pre-requisite Moves: Strong clean invert Strong invert to helicopter Butterfly Extended Butterfly Superman from inverted knee hook Cross knee layback Strong sit and thigh holds

Rehearsal Time: Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
First Rehearsal Date: Starts Saturday January 28th, 2018. (Skipping both long weekends. Family day Feb 17 and Easter March 31)

Sam's Troupe

Dance Style: Pole and floor work
Costume: Will discuss as group. Yellow, red, black, white with a fake chunky gold chain
Number of Spots: 10
Rehearsal Time: Thursdays from 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM 
First Rehearsal Date: February 8th
Pre-requisite moves: Will create choreo based on signups. Open to Inter 1 and 2.
Students should be confident with 102 moves and not 'new' to Inter 1. Including: Clean dominant invert - helicopter
Shooting Star, Brass Monkey, Genie -Tulip, Hip Hold.

Kayla's Troupe

Dance Style : Sexy thug life ; )

First Rehearsal Date: January Jan 28th (no practice on February 24 & March 24)

Miranda's Troupe
Song: Purple Rain by Prince
Pre-requisite Moves: Strong climb and invert (aerial invert would be beneficial)
Dance style: a bit lyrical with possibly some partner work (need to be comfortable getting close to partner)
Costume notes: You will be required to have purple shorts and hoping to find a purple vest and some sort of white ruffle-type dickie for under the vest.  There will be some expense to the costume.

First Rehearsal Date: Wednesday Jan 31 (we will be taking Wed. March 14th off due to March Break)

Heather's Troupe
Open to all levels
Song: Pony by Ginuwine
Prerequisites - Anyone joining this troupe will be open to learning booty shaking/twerking, shoulder rolls, and hair tosses. Chair choreography will also be incorporated.
Costume: Hats and heels are likely to be worn during this routine.
Spots available: 10
Rehearsal Time: Saturdays from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM 
First Rehearsal Date: January 20th, 2018 *Note we WILL NOT have practice on Family Day Weekend (February 17) or March 24th.

Christie's Troupe
Song: “Like a virgin” by Madonna
Pre-requisites: Must have a invert without kicking up. Strong sit, forearm climb, aerial invert, thigh hold
You will have the opportunity to be both base and flyer and you will be working with all others in the troupe

First Rehearsal Date: Feb 4th, 2018

Emily's Troupe

Pre-requisite moves: Pole 101 Spins and Transitions, as well as a willingness to learn musical theatre style choreography. 
Costume: Please budget to purchase costume pieces. We will be purchasing matching MJ inspired accessories. Black high waisted pole shorts will likely be worn. Costume to be discussed further with troupe members. 
Dance Style: Contemporary/Jazz

Rehearsal Time: Sundays from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM 
First Rehearsal Date: January 28th, 2018. (No practice February 25th or March 25th)

Suzy’s All Levels Troupe
Theme: 80s Hair Metal
Song:  “Still of the Night” and “Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake
Costume Notes: A mix of pleather, vests, cheetah prints and metallics, we are going full 80’s Hair Metal

Pre-requisite Moves: This is an all Levels Troupe, all levels welcome, lets make a beautiful blend of all your strengths and skills

Suzy’s Advanced Troupe
Theme: Grunge
Song:  “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Heart-Shaped Box” by Nirvana
Pre-requisite Moves: Must be able to complete following combo on both sides before start date of practices (shoulder mount - brass monkey - brass bridge - sneaky V  ) Also strong Ayesha and versatile to perform tricks on dominate and non dominate sides.  
Costume Notes: Long Sleeve Tear Away Crop Top with big Heart on the chest and Black Sports bra with Nirvana Smiley Face with black bottoms with  Knee Pads

Administrative Information

  • All troupe prerequisites are strongly recommended, speak with troupe leader if you have any questions
  • All troupe costumes are at the expense of the student
  • It is highly recommended that you attend all troupe rehearsals.  If you have to miss a day please advise your troupe leader.
  • All troupe members will be required to sign a photo release form.  There will be photography during the performance night, and the potential for photography/videography during rehearsals. 
  • If you are a non-active student, the cost is $130+HST, please contact the studio to register/pay (online price is $85 for active members only)

Registration Information
  • Registration for all ACTIVE students opens Friday December 8th, 2017 @ 10 am online only; first come, first served - no advanced registration will be allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Q: What is the format of the night?

A:  Saturday April 7th 6-7 VIP, Show 7-10pm.  Performances will be back to back in a stage show format with a 20 minute intermission. 

2.  Q:  How many spaces are in each troupe?

A:  Each troupe is different, and may be adjusted as needed.  Pole troupes for the most part have 10 spots. 

3.  Q:  I'm going to miss one of the troupe rehearsal dates, is that a problem?

A:  We totally understand that out of 8 weeks you might miss a practice.  We strongly encourage you to attend all practices. If you must miss a practice, you must notify your instructor priot to signing up. 

4.  Q:  What if I do not want my picture taken?

A:  If you refuse to sign the photo release then it will be your responsibility to not be in any photos that are being taken by Emily- our Studio Chic photographer.  During the performance, Emily will be taking pictures/video of the performance that will be shared on our social media sites.  Please keep in mind that we cannot control audience members/party guests from taking pictures.  You are performing at a public event, it is fair to assume that someone will take a photo of you.  

5.  Q:  I don't want to perform, but I do want to help, what can I do?

A:  We always have volunteer opportunities at our events.  Opportunities include: front door ticket taker/drink ticket sales, washroom/food table maintenance person.  If interested in helping out please email us at
